A foray is an outdoor meeting where people explore and record all
the fungi in a particular area. It's a good introduction to learning how
to find and identify fungi in the field.
If you haven't been on a foray before, the following points may
be helpful:
- bring footwear that is fairly waterproof and mud proof
eg walking boots or wellies
- most people bring a packed lunch and something to drink
- if you want to, bring something in which you can carry any
fungus you find, eg a wicker basket or a few plastic boxes or tubs. Plastic
bags are out as they can render your specimens unusable very quickly!
- people tend not to bring their dog(s) as they sometimes
disturb wildlife and/or other forayers
There are lots to choose from. The 3 below are good starting points.
