Favourite fungi 2009 - various - Malcolm Greaves
Piptoporus quercinus -
My find of the season, on an
ancient oak at Castle Howard. |
Dichomitus campestris - a first for
Yorkshire. |
Leucoagaricus nympharum -
an almost pure white Lepiota look alike. |
Neolentinus lepidus -
nicknamed the 'train crash fungus' in the US, where its
predilection for creosote-soaked wood caused many derailments when the
sleepers were eaten away. I found this on the [creosoted?] wood around
a local car park. |
