Favourite fungi 2009 - various - Malcolm Greaves

Piptoporus quercinus  -  My find of the season, on an ancient oak at Castle Howard.

Dichomitus campestris  -  a first for Yorkshire.

Leucoagaricus nympharum  -  an almost pure white Lepiota look alike.

Neolentinus lepidus  -  nicknamed the 'train crash fungus' in the US, where its predilection for creosote-soaked wood caused many derailments when the sleepers were eaten away. I found this on the [creosoted?] wood around a local car park.
