Events
Public forays
We run several public forays in the autumn - everyone is welcome to come along
to these. Our public forays are also popular with new members of the group who
are just starting to learn about fungi. Enjoy a day in the outdoors - you'll
probably find more fungi than you expect! On a typical foray, we find 30 or 40
different types of fungi. The Public foray page also lists details of some other
forays in Yorkshire which are open to the public.
MYFG forays
We have a regular programme of forays for MYFG
members. Non-members who are thinking about joining the group can attend
by invitation.
Meetings
We hold evening meetings throughout the year. Past meetings have featured
talks on identifying, photographing and drawing fungi; fungal biology; lichens;
paper-making using fungi; tree identification. We also run microscope sessions,
slide shows and social events.
Events run by other organisations
The British Mycological
Society [BMS] and the Yorkshire Naturalists' Union [YNU] hold forays and other events,
and MYFG is affiliated to both organisations.
See our Links page for links to the websites of both the BMS and the YNU.
